석정 한익환

(1921-2006)

 

석정 한익환 선생은 1979년 1월 국립중앙박물관에서 '한익환 전승도예수작전'이란 이름으로 초청 전시회를 가지면서 세상에 그 이름을 드러냈다. 석정 성생은 전통 도자기 색을 연구하셨던 사기 장인이며 당시 국립중앙박물관 내에서 초청 전시회를 연다는 것은 대단히 파격적인 일이었다.

석정 선생의 작품은 현재 미국 보스톤 동양박물관, 스미소니언 박물관, 뉴욕 자연사 박물관, 독일 쾰른 동양 박물관, 영국 대영박물관 및 해외 주재 한국문화원과 주영대사관에 소장되어 있다.

 

Seokjeong Han Ik Hwan

Ceramic Master Seokjeong Han Ik Hwan revealed himself to the world as he had an invitational exhibition, 'The Masterpieces of Han Ik Hwan Traditional Ceramics' at the National Museum of Korea in January, 1979. Master Han was a ceramicist who had researched colors of traditional ceramics; in addition, it was a sensational issue that held invitational exhibition inside of the National Museum of Korea at that time.

 

The art works of Master Han are at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Smithsonian Institution, the American Museum of National History in New York, USA, Das Museum  für Ostasiatische Kunst Köln(the Museum for East Asian Art Köln), Germany, the British Museum UK, Korean Cultural Services abroad and the Korean Embassy in the UK at present.
